Sequential Dates

Automatically stagger due dates across your tasks. Set a start date, choose a rhythm, and SuperTemplates calculates dates for every task — skipping weekends and holidays.

Sequential Dates automatically distributes due dates across your tasks based on a rhythm you choose. Instead of setting each date manually, configure once and let SuperTemplates calculate the schedule.

1

Select tasks to schedule

In the editor, select the tasks you want to assign dates to. The order of tasks determines the date sequence.

2

Open Sequence Dates

Click the 'Sequence Dates' button in the bulk action toolbar. The configuration modal opens with your selected task count.

3

See the preview

The bottom of the modal shows a live preview of assigned dates. Verify the schedule looks correct before applying.

Pro tip: Sequential Dates works with both 'Due date' and custom date fields. Select the target field in the dropdown.

Fine-tune your date sequence with rhythms, constraints, and custom patterns. Works both standalone and inside templates — use 'From Variable' mode to anchor dates to a template variable.

1

Choose a target field

Select which date field to populate: Due date, Start date, or any custom date field from your Jira project configuration.

2

Fixed dates or from a template variable

In the main editor, use 'Fixed Dates' to pick a specific calendar start date. Inside the template editor, an extra 'From Variable' tab appears — it calculates offsets relative to a template variable like Due Date, so the schedule adjusts automatically each time the template is applied.

3

Pick a rhythm

Choose from: Daily, Every 2 Days, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Business Days, or Custom pattern. Each rhythm determines the gap between consecutive task dates.

4

Add constraints

Toggle 'Skip weekends' to avoid Saturday/Sunday dates. Toggle 'Skip holidays' and select your country's holiday calendar for automatic holiday avoidance.

Pro tip: The 'Business Days' rhythm automatically skips weekends. Combine it with 'Skip holidays' for accurate workday-only scheduling.

Always review the calculated dates before applying. The preview shows exactly which date each task will receive.

1

Review the preview

The preview list shows each task number, its calculated date, and the offset from the start date. Scroll through to verify the full schedule.

2

Check the range

The header shows the full date range (e.g., 'Mar 12 → May 7, 2026') and total task count. Make sure the end date fits your project timeline.

3

Apply dates

Click 'Apply Dates' to set all dates at once. The dates appear immediately in your task list, ready for review before pushing to Jira.

Pro tip: If the calculated end date extends too far, try a shorter rhythm. Switching from 'Every 2 Days' to 'Daily' or 'Business Days' compresses the schedule.
